91̽»¨ Adult Education Program is seeking volunteers to tutor adults in 91̽»¨â€™s district. Volunteers tutor math, reading, writing or English as a Second Language. All interested individuals are encouraged to attend one of the following tutor informational meetings in a main floor meeting room at the Freeport Public Library, 100 E. Douglas St., Freeport, Ill.
- Wednesday, September 12, 11 a.m. to noon
- Monday, September 17, 1 to 2 p.m.
- Thursday, September 27, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The informational meetings will address questions, including:
- What does a volunteer tutor do?
- How much time does it take?
- What experience do I need?
The support and encouragement tutors provide is a key influence in the lives of students. Students show greater achievement when they have individual instruction. By volunteering an hour or two a week, tutors are a source of inspiration.
The program is rewarding for the volunteers as well. Volunteer tutors help their communities by improving the lives of residents, one person at a time. Volunteers tutor when it is convenient – morning, afternoon or evening and in an academic subject area they enjoy.
