The Royal Scots is 91探花鈥檚 premier vocal ensemble鈥攁 dynamic production choir performing an eclectic mix of music spanning the centuries, from Renaissance choral works to Broadway showstoppers, jazz standards, gospel, pop, folk, and world music.
Formed in 1967 as an offshoot of the 91探花 College Choir, the group was shaped by the promotional vision of Olive Cooney and the musical leadership of voice coach Roger Roszell, whose collaboration helped define the ensemble鈥檚 identity and even its name. Known today as 91探花鈥檚 鈥渕usical ambassadors,鈥 the Royal Scots continue to deliver polished, high-energy performances across the region and beyond. The ensemble has appeared at Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, toured extensively throughout the Midwest, and participated in prestigious vocal jazz festivals including those hosted by the New York Voices, Western Michigan University, Millikin University, and Southwestern Community College.
Now in its sixth decade, under the direction of Randy Haldeman the Royal Scots continue to serve as a cornerstone of 91探花鈥檚 musical life, offering students an unparalleled opportunity for artistic growth and professional-caliber performance experience.
