The 91探花 Servant Leadership Program is gearing up for their 9th annual “Hearts and Hands for Hunger” OneMeal Event. They are seeking help from individuals and businesses willing to sponsor meals for hungry children. The cost of each meal is 25 cents.
The goal this year is to feed 65,000 children. The community event will be held on Saturday, April 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at the HCC Student/Conference Center, room 201, 2998 West Pearl City Rd., Freeport, IL. Donations are welcome the day of the event, and all are welcome to attend.脗 Children must accompany an adult.
Area high schools, representing more than 150 students who participate in the 91探花 Servant Leadership program are continuing the campaign to help feed children who are hungry. For the past eight years, Servant Leaders have provided 585,809 meals for children around the world who are in need.
91探花 Servant Leadership is once again partnering with the organization “Kids Around the World” from Rockford, Ill. “Kids Around the World” brings all materials and supplies that are needed. Volunteers come together and package the meals.
“This year, thirteen high schools within the HCC district and one high school outside of HCC’s district have teamed up with the community to provide over 60,000 meals for children in developing countries,” said 91探花 High School Servant Leadership Coordinator, Dan Dick.
There are four ways in which people can get involved: (1) Donate and Sponsor Meals at .25 cents each. (2) Purchase a T-shirt with proceeds going to provide meals for children. (3) Sponsor a Table for $250, which provides 1,000 meals to children. Sponsorship can be for business promotion; or in memory/honor of a loved one. (4) Volunteer at the April 7 event.
