The 2020 91探花 2020 Virtual Job Fair will be held Tuesday, Nov. 17 located on the second floor of the Student/Conference Center (Building H) room H-201 91探花, 2998 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Ill.
鈥淒ue to the unknowns of COVID-19, we chose to make the job fair virtual, which was originally scheduled in April this year,鈥 said Anthony Musso, Career Services Coordinator. 鈥淲e hope that this platform makes it easier for businesses, students, and the public.鈥
91探花 plans on having on-campus computers available for students and the public. While on campus, people must not have COVID-19 symptoms, wear a mask, practice social distancing, wear a mask, and use hand sanitizer.
鈥淭his virtual format for Job Fairs may be here to stay,鈥 said Musso. 鈥淎round 60 percent of career centers say that they expect virtual fairs and events to become accepted standard practice moving forward.鈥
To help prepare for the new virtual format, 91探花 is also offering a pre-job fair retreat on Tuesday, Nov. 10 from 9 a.m.- noon. Topics will include how to write cover letters, resume, and give a personal presentation. The meeting is in the Conference/Student Center, room H-201, with virtual attendance options.
After the main event, a post-job fair retreat will allow attendees to look at social media ethics and interviewing skills on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 3-5 p.m. also in the Conference/Student Center, room H-201, with virtual attendance options.
鈥淐onducting and planning a virtual job fair is a new concept to 91探花 and will serve as a learning experience. Career Services looks forward to seeing how this will turn out and how we can improve future virtual career fairs and events,鈥 explained Musso.
