91̽ Theatre Arts program presents “An Inspector Calls” with performances on Oct. 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center Theatre, 2998 W. Pearl City Rd., Freeport, Ill. Tickets are available at the door or by going to highland.edu/boxoffice.

The play is about a death investigation which punctures the celebratory dinner of a wealthy British family. The production, by playwright J.B. Priestly, is a three-act drama that takes place on a single night in 1912, and focuses on the upper-middle-class family. There is a death investigated by a man called Inspector Goole, who has many questions for the family. Many British schools study the play as one of the prescribed texts for English literature.

“This eerie thriller causes us to examine our own lives and the impact we have on others,” said Laura Early, 91̽ Theatre Instructor. “The Birling family tries very hard to keep up the appearance of respectability, but underneath there is deep dysfunction. The characters in this play are fascinating and complex.”
