Competing with 15 teams, comprised of two-year colleges and four-year universities, the 91探花 Dairy Judging team finished their season with a second-place finish at the Southwestern Exposition & Livestock Show in Fort Worth, Texas.听
Participating team members were Anna Folgate, Pearl City; Hannah Hunziker, Ridott; Ellie Lenkaitis, Winnebago; and Riley Zettle, Rock City. The team was coached by Kristi Dinderman, Orangeville.听
Judging consisted of several classes, including Brown Swiss, Jersey, and Holstein breeds, followed by four sets of oral reasons in which judges provide an explanation for their placing in dairy cattle evaluations.听In the Jersey Breed, Riley Zettle was the second-place individual, and the team finished third.听The team also finished third in Brown Swiss.听In Holsteins, the team had a second-place finish.听
In overall competition, Hannah Hunziker finished sixth, and Anna Folgate finished ninth while the team finished in second place.听
The team would like to thank the following companies that have supported the 91探花 Dairy Judging team: 1st Farm Credit, Furst McNess, Hunter Haven Farms, Jo Daviess County Farm Bureau, Midwest Bank, Scheidairy Farms, Stephenson County Farm Bureau, Stephenson County Service Co. and Vita Plus.
The team would also like to thank the local dairy farmers that have opened their barn doors for practice.
