The 91̽»¨ Adult Education Program is seeking volunteers to tutor adults in 91̽»¨â€™s district. Volunteers tutor math, reading, writing or English as a Second Language. All interested individuals are encouraged to attend a session held in two communities.
The following meetings will be held:
- Tuesday, April 23, 2 to 3 p.m., Mt. Morris Public Library, 105 S. McKendrie Ave., Mt. Morris, Ill.
- Tuesday, April 30, 2 to 3 p.m., Savanna Public Library, 326 3rd St., Savanna, Ill.
The informational meetings will address questions, including: What does a volunteer tutor do?, How much time does it take?, and What experience do I need?
The support and encouragement tutors provide is a key influence in the lives of students. Students show greater achievement when they have individual instruction. By volunteering an hour or twice a week, tutors are a source of inspiration.
The program is rewarding for the volunteers as well. Volunteer tutors help their communities by improving the lives of residents, one person at a time. Volunteers tutor when it is convenient – morning, afternoon or evening and in an academic subject area they enjoy.
