More than 60 people attended the opening reception and award ceremony for the 51st annual District Juried Art Exhibit on Feb. 13 at the 91探花 Gallery in the Ferguson Fine Arts Center at 91探花.
Eleven exhibiting artists were awarded for their work, which remains on display through March 4. Bob Apolloni, Gallery Director, and President Tim Hood gave out the awards for Best of Show Student; Best of Show Community; First, Second, Third Place and Honorable mention.
Those honored include:
Best of Show Student: Kat Guthrie for 鈥淓mpty Chairs鈥 鈥 Mixed Media Drawing
Best of Show Community: Faye Sanders-Hughes for 鈥淎bstract Reflections of Grace鈥 鈥 Acrylic Painting
First Place: Melinda Cook for 鈥淲ell Made Mess鈥 鈥 Mixed Media
Second Place: Ellen Bartels for 鈥淥h Soul鈥 鈥 Acrylic Painting
Third Place: Rhonda Lampe for 鈥淔loating鈥 鈥 Photography
Honorable Mention: Marybeth Simler for 鈥淯ntitled鈥 鈥 Mixed Media Drawing; Kelly Simler for 鈥淛oy鈥 鈥 Doll, Metal Sculpture; Nanette Mosher for 鈥淎 Hard Life鈥 鈥 Colored Pencil Drawing; Adam Watkins for 鈥淔ur鈥 鈥 Graphite Drawing; Ellen Bartels for 鈥淥n the Bay鈥 鈥 Oil Painting and Brandon Loos for 鈥淩evelation 4:20鈥 鈥 Found Object & Holy Spirit.
The Juried District Art Exhibit is designed to recognize local artists in the 91探花 district and to celebrate their visual contribution to the community. The 91探花 Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
